The Four Best Forearm Exercises

There is no question but building muscular forearms will enhance the way you look, but that's only part of the benefit. Muscular forearms will also improve your performance when you participate in a sport or while you are exercising. Chin-ups, dead lifts, and bicep curls are a lot easier to perform when you have good muscular forearms. The following article discusses some of the best forearm exercises for building those muscular forearms.
Barbell Wrist Curls
Barbell wrist curls have long been recognized as the best forearm exercises for building up muscle. Perform this exercise while sitting on a bench, leaning forward far enough to be able to place your forearms on the bench between your legs. Grip a barbell, palms upwards. Extend your wrists, lowering the barbell toward the floor. Uncurl your fingers to enable you to lower the bar a little further. Tighten your grip of the barbell and curl your wrists upward to raise the barbell just a high as you can. Lower the barbell toward the floor slowly, and repeat the exercise.
Forearm Exercises
Farmer's Walk
This is one of the best forearms exercises that are traditionally used for increasing the strength of the forearms. It is seen often in many strongman competitions. Pick up a fairly heavy dumbbell in each hand. With your arms straight down at your sides and your shoulders down and back, walk as far as you can go until your grip on the dumbbells can no longer be maintained. Place the weights on the floor to give your arms a chance to recover. After a brief rest, pick up the weights again and continue walking.
Reverse Barbell Curls
This is another one of the best forearm exercises for building up your forearms and your biceps at the same time. Grip a barbell with an overhand grip, hands spaced about hip width, and your feet spaced at shoulder width. Ensure that your thumbs are on the top of the bar, not wrapped around it as usual. With your arms straight and the barbell laying across your thighs, curl the barbell up to the level of your shoulders. Let the barbell slowly return to the start position and perform the exercise again.
Hand Grippers
This exercise can be performed anywhere at any time. All it takes is a small hand gripper, one of the best forearm exercisers ever invented, which is available at any sporting goods store. One exercise simply involves gripping the gripper, closing it as far as possible and holding it in the closed position for as long as you can. Another good exercise is to progressively increase the number of grips done with each hand. Squeeze the gripper once with one hand, and then do the same thing with the other. Each time you change hands, increase the number of times that you squeeze the gripper by one. Keep doing this until you simply cannot do any more.
Newspaper Scrunch
This is certainly an unusual name for an unusual exercise that is great for strengthening your fingers and forearms. Take a single sheet of newspaper and grab it by the corner using your thumb and forefinger. Using only these two fingers, gather the sheet of paper up into a ball, and then squeeze the ball tightly in your hand until your grip tires. Do this again with your other hand. Keep alternating hands until you have scrunched up the entire newspaper.

Top 6 Forearm Muscle Building Exercises

Forearm muscle building is a much underused workout routine as a lot of people rather want to focus on the bigger, more famous muscles.

But forearm muscle building has a lot of benefits. Having muscular forearms looks great with the right outfits or no outfit on. Furthermore, forearm muscle building can help you when working on other exercises and provide you with a strong grip as well.

-Forearm Muscle Building Exercise #1:

The first exercise for forearm muscle building is the palm down wrist curl. Grab two dumbbells and place your hands on a bench. You need to sit on your knees with this exercise. In a slow motion, move your wrist up as far as you can and then back down to the starting position.

-Forearm Muscle Building Exercise #2:

This exercise is the opposite of the first one, palm up wrist curl. As you can imagine, you need to face your palms upwards with this one and perform the same motion as the first exercise.

-Forearm Muscle Building Exercise #3:

Forearm Exercises

Sit on a bench in front of a cable machine with a low pulley. Put a bar on the pulley and grab it with both hands. Place your forearms on your thighs and curl your wrist upwards, but your elbows should be touching your thighs all the time. Slowly return to the starting position and repeat as necessary.

-Forearm Muscle Building Exercise #4:

Sit on a bench with this exercise. It is called seated palm up wrist curl. Place your forearms on your thighs and with a dumbbell in one hand, slowly curl your wrist upwards and lower it afterwards. Repeat as necessary.

-Forearm Muscle Building Exercise #5
:
This exercise for forearm muscle building is called the seated palm down wrist curl. You place your forearm on your thigh as with the exercise above, but this time you have your palm downwards.
The difference between these two exercises and the first two is that when you place your forearms on a bench, you have a steady and firm resting place for your forearms. But when you place them on your thighs, they won’t rest that steady and it will be much like using free weights when training large muscle groups.

-Forearm Muscle Building Exercise #6:

This forearm muscle building exercise is done using 2 weight plates. Grab the two plates with one hand so that you extend your fingers more than normal. Now pull them upwards so that your elbows are bending in an angle of 45 degrees. Hold it there for as long as you can and switch arm afterwards. Repeat this exercise as required.
The great thing about forearm muscle building is that it does not take long to build them when you work out. Choose a couple of the above exercises and apply them with the rest of your workout routine.
All of the above forearm muscle building exercises are excellent for building strong and muscular                                            forearms, apply them and see the results.

How To Get Killer Forearms

Getting big forearms is a long journey. To get big forearms, you must thrive to work them and have the discipline to work them out often. Big forearms can sometimes be a blessing, but most people really need to work them out hard in order to get big forearms.
People, especially aspiring bodybuilders would like to get big forearms for the following reasons:
- Look better on stage and look stronger on every pose
- To be able to achieve stronger, firmer and bigger forearms to help them in all other lifts
- To have more stable forearms in order to lift heavier weights.
- To be able to increase grip strength and deadlift more weight
Forearm Exercises

Here are some exercises to build big forearms that you can do for faster growth and strengthening of your forearms muscles.
1. Do your arm curls with boards. Grab a thin board and curl those arms. This will work efficiently on your arms and hand grip at the same time.
2. Make use of hand grippers if available. This exercise apparatus is designed to build extreme hand strength which will lead to big forearms. They can be done frequently because forearms can take a lot of volume. Maintain at least 20 to 25 repetitions per set.
3. Do some weight crawls for a fun workout. This can be done either indoors or outdoors, just make sure that you use a carpet for comfort and safety. Another thing that you need to consider is the floor of the place where you will execute the exercise.
Here is how you do this exercise. Pick up two dumbbells and put both of the weights on the floor that is merely at a distance of shoulder-width. Be in the push-up position placing your arms on top of the weights. Make sure that the weights are steady and properly settled on the ground to keep a well balanced body. While in the push-up position, gently lift the weights in your right hand using the pinch type of grip and slowly move forward for like one (1) foot. Do this while your body is being supported by your left arm holding and balancing on the other weight. Do exactly the same thing, but now with your left hand. Continue the routine in the same exact manner for about 10-15 counts. This workout will certainly get you big forearms after a few months because of all the stabilization it needs. You may also do this exercise while crawling backwards.
4. Have fun with finger push-ups. Execute your push-ups but instead of supporting yourself on the palm of your hands, try with your fingers. With time, you will see the big forearms come that you wish for. The stronger you get, the less fingers you can support yourself with. If you can achieve push-ups with only 3 fingers, then you have great grip strength and most certainly big forearms.
Forearm Exercises

5. Brick Challenge. Grab a set of bricks and walk with them as long as you can. Try to always increase the time you can support them.
6. The Sledge Hammer Toss. Get a sledge hammer and toss it up in the air at the highest possible point that you can. This forearms workout will surely improve the strength of your forearms and certainly the size. This will get you big forearms in no time.
7. Curls with plates. Do your regular curls but use plates instead of a bar. Hold the plates so it is horizontal with the floor. This forearms workout will improve your strength and balance.
8. Forearms workout with the use of thick bars. Grab a thick bar and grip it as hard as you can. This will definitely improve you gripping power and will improve the condition of your tendons and ligaments. This is the single best exercise to get you big forearms fast. You can achieve big forearms without incorporating extra exercises in your routine.
9. Do forearms workout in high repetitions: Because your forearms are mainly slow twitch fibers dominant, they respond better to high repetitions and high volume. You can work them every other day if you wish. Don't be afraid of overtraining.
